Karma’s Sweet Revenge

I used to think karma was just a myth, a way to make ourselves feel better when someone wrongs us. But I’ve come to realize that karma is very real, and it has a wicked sense of humor.

My ex-husband, Dan, was a master manipulator. He cheated on me, lied to me, and even ripped the wallpaper off our walls after we divorced because he claimed he’d paid for it. The memory of that day still makes my blood boil.

But karma had other plans. Six months after our divorce, Dan called me to brag about his new fiancée. I congratulated him and hung up, thinking that was the end of it. Little did I know, karma was just getting started.

A few weeks later, I ran into Dan and his fiancée downtown. And that’s when I discovered that his new partner was none other than Cassie, a friend I’d made at a book club. The same book club where I’d shared the story of Dan’s wallpaper antics.

Cassie’s face turned bright red as she realized who Dan was. “You’re the guy from the wallpaper story?” she asked, her voice trembling with rage.

Dan tried to downplay the situation, but Cassie was having none of it. She stormed off, leaving Dan standing alone, looking like a fool. It was a beautiful moment, and I couldn’t help but smile.

As I watched Dan’s world crumble around him, I realized that karma had finally caught up with him. He’d spent years manipulating and hurting those around him, and now he was facing the consequences.

I walked away from the scene, feeling a sense of closure and vindication. Karma may take its time, but it always delivers. And in this case, it delivered a delicious serving of poetic justice.

That evening, as I tucked my kids into bed, they reminded me of the new wallpaper we’d chosen together. It was a beautiful, colorful design that told our new story, one that didn’t include Dan’s toxic behavior.

As I looked around at our happy, peaceful home, I knew that karma had given me a second chance. And I was grateful for it.
