The internet is filled with eerie images that claim to capture paranormal activity. From ghostly apparitions to unexplained creatures, these photos often spark intense debate and speculation. However, most of these images can be explained away by camera tricks, photo editing, or simple misinterpretation.
But every now and then, a photo comes along that defies logical explanation. For Kay Borleis, a runner who participated in the Hawaiian Ultra Running Team’s Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run in 2019, a routine photo taken during the event revealed a haunting detail that has left many baffled.
The photo, taken by Kay’s friend and pacer Cassie, appears to show Kay running along a muddy trail in the heart of the Hawaiian rainforest. But upon closer inspection, a dark figure can be seen lurking in the background, dressed in tattered clothing. Kay insists that there was no one else present during the run, and the figure is not a result of photo editing or manipulation.
Kay’s discovery sparked intense interest, particularly in the context of Hawaiian folklore. According to legend, the island is home to the Night Marchers, the ghostly spirits of ancient Hawaiian warriors who roam the island. These spirits are said to be malevolent and deadly, striking fear into the hearts of those who encounter them.
Kay’s research into the Night Marchers revealed that, according to ancient Hawaiian tenets, anyone who gazes upon or is viewed by the Night Marchers will meet a horrific and violent death. However, if the person shows proper respect and reverence by lying still on the ground, they may be spared.
Fortunately, Kay and her friend did not encounter the Night Marchers during their run. The photo remains a chilling mystery, leaving many to wonder about the existence of these ghostly spirits.
