The entertainment world is mourning the loss of actress Jill Jacobson, best known for her roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Falcon Crest. Jacobson’s passing was confirmed by her longtime friend, Dan Harary, who revealed that she succumbed to a long-term illness.
Born in Texas, Jacobson began her acting career in the 1970s, landing her first major role in the 1977 film Nurse Sherri. She went on to appear in numerous TV shows and films, including Falcon Crest, where she played the role of Erin Jones in over 20 episodes.
Jacobson’s talent extended beyond acting, as she also worked as an executive producer on several projects, including The Circle and the short film Mic Whore. Her creative flair and dedication to her craft earned her a loyal following and critical acclaim.
According to Harary, Jacobson passed away on December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center. She had been battling a long-term illness, including esophageal cancer, which she had been treated for over two and a half years.
In a recent interview, Jacobson spoke candidly about her cancer diagnosis and treatment, describing the experience as “incredibly challenging.” Despite the difficulties she faced, Jacobson remained optimistic and dedicated to her work, using her platform to raise awareness and support for cancer research.
Jacobson’s advocacy efforts earned her numerous awards, and she continued to work tirelessly until her passing. Her manager, Ben Padua, remembered her as a “total spitfire of an actress” with a unique blend of comedic timing and Hollywood glamour.
Fans of Jacobson will have one last chance to see her on screen in the upcoming TV show Merrily, set to be released in 2025. Her legacy will continue to inspire and entertain audiences for years to come.
