Patti Scialfa Opens Up About Her Cancer Battle: A Heartfelt Message from the Springsteen Family

The Springsteen family has been dealing with some challenging health issues lately. Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen’s wife and a member of the E Street Band, has bravely shared her struggles with cancer. In a recent interview, Scialfa revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018.

This diagnosis has forced Scialfa to make some tough decisions, including stepping back from touring with her husband and the E Street Band. “This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go,” she explained. Despite this, Scialfa remains optimistic and has found ways to stay involved in music, even if it’s just singing a few songs on stage occasionally.

Scialfa has also been focusing on her solo album and spending time with her family, including her granddaughter Lily Springsteen, who was born in July 2022. She has chosen to play only a select few dates on Springsteen’s current tour, which started in February 2023.

Unfortunately, health issues have also affected Bruce Springsteen, who has been dealing with peptic ulcer disease and vocal issues. In September 2023, he was forced to postpone his remaining tour dates, and again in the summer of 2024, he had to cancel a few shows due to vocal problems.

As Patti Scialfa continues to fight multiple myeloma, the Springsteen family is grateful for the love and support of their fans. Our thoughts and prayers are with Patti during this challenging time.
