A Little Girl’s Big Dream Comes True on Class Picture Day

For many children, class picture day is a fun and exciting experience. They get to dress up in their favorite outfits and pose for photos with their classmates. However, for some kids, it can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially if they’re worried about what others might think of their clothes.

Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach was no exception. The night before her class picture, she was bursting with excitement, but when she saw the outfit her parents had laid out for her, her enthusiasm quickly turned to disappointment.

Kaylieann had other plans for her class picture outfit. She wanted to dress up as her favorite superhero, Supergirl, or as she affectionately calls her, “Pootergirl.” Kaylieann has severe hearing loss and is unable to hear the letter “S,” which is why she gives her favorite superheroes special nicknames.

When her father, Austin Steinbach, asked her what she wanted to wear for class pictures, Kaylieann’s response was unequivocal: “Pootergirl!” Austin couldn’t argue with that answer, and Kaylieann got to wear her beloved Supergirl costume to class picture day.

As she posed for the photographers, Kaylieann beamed with happiness, her Supergirl suit and doll by her side. Austin shared the photo on Reddit, and the response was overwhelming. The post received a ton of encouraging messages, particularly from the deaf community.

Austin was amazed by the reaction and the outpouring of support for his daughter. “I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me,” he said. “I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many.”

Kaylieann’s story is a testament to the power of self-expression and the importance of embracing our individuality. She’s a true superhero, and her bravery and confidence are an inspiration to us all.
