The death of British daredevil Lewis Stevenson, 26, has sent shockwaves through the social media community. Stevenson, an influencer known for his thrill-seeking stunts, fell to his death from the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge in Spain on October 13.
According to eyewitnesses, Stevenson was attempting to scale the 630ft bridge for a social media stunt when he lost his footing and fell. His 24-year-old friend, who was with him at the time, is said to be “traumatized” by the incident.
The Talavera de la Reina Town Council has since reiterated the dangers of climbing the bridge, stating that it is “totally prohibited” and has been clearly marked as such. The council also expressed their condolences to Stevenson’s family and friends.
An inquest into Stevenson’s death has been opened, with assistant coroner Sabyta Kaushal confirming that the cause of death was blunt force head injuries and uncontrolled descent from a height. The inquest has been adjourned for further investigations, with a final hearing to be scheduled at a later date.
Stevenson’s family has spoken out about the incident, describing him as a thrill-seeker who loved adventure. His grandfather, Clifford Stevenson, said that the family had tried to talk him out of the stunt, but Lewis was determined to go through with it.
The incident has raised concerns about the risks of social media stunts and the importance of prioritizing safety. As the investigation into Stevenson’s death continues, his family and friends are left to mourn the loss of a young man who lived life on the edge.
