A Colorful Dilemma in the Pews

Last Sunday, I attended church expecting a serene and introspective experience. However, my attention was drawn to a woman sitting near the front pew with bright pink hair.

I was taken aback, not because I don’t appreciate individuality, but because it seemed to clash with the somber atmosphere of the church.

As I pondered this encounter, I realized that my reaction stemmed from my traditional view of church as a place of quiet reverence and modesty. Yet, I also acknowledge that we live in a world that celebrates self-expression and creativity.

This raises an interesting question: can we reconcile our desire for personal expression with the need to show respect for sacred spaces and traditions?
