Billie Joe Armstrong’s Bold Move: Renouncing US Citizenship

Green Day’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, made headlines with his shocking announcement to renounce his US citizenship. This decision comes after the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.
During a London Stadium performance, Armstrong declared his plans, promising to spend more time on the UK side of the Atlantic. “Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days,” he said.

Armstrong continued criticizing the US during his band’s show in Huddersfield, England.
He’s not alone in his outrage. Pop star Olivia Rodrigo targeted conservative justices by name at the Glastonbury music festival. “This song goes out to the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you!”

Armstrong’s move sparks conversation about artists using their platforms to voice dissent.
