After an incredible 52-year career, Elton John has officially retired from touring. The music legend wrapped up his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour with a final performance at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena.
As he took the stage for the last time, John expressed his gratitude to the audience. “I’ve had the most incredible career, beyond words. How fortunate am I to have played music for 52 years?” he said, his voice filled with emotion.
John concluded his concert with iconic hits “Your Song” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” leaving the crowd in awe. In a post-show statement, he thanked his fans for their unwavering support. “My fans have been with me every step of the way… Their love has humbled me, and it will live on in my heart forever.”
A heartfelt message from Chris Martin of Coldplay added to the evening’s emotional atmosphere. “Elton, we love you so much… Happy retirement, and we’ll miss you terribly, dude,” Martin said, speaking on behalf of the music community.
Earlier that day, John reflected on his journey via Instagram. “What a journey this tour has been, and now we find ourselves at the end of it. Tonight is the final night.”
Although John’s touring days are behind him, fans can look forward to future performances. His husband and manager, David Furnish, clarified that John will still make occasional appearances, possibly in the form of one-time events or short residencies.
As Elton John closes this chapter, his legacy as a music icon remains. His farewell tour marks the end of an era, but his impact on the music world will continue to inspire generations to come.
